Integration of juveniles in conflict with the law through restorative practices (follow-up)

This project was a follow-up of the cooperation between the General Directorate of the Probation Service and the Albanian Foundation for “Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation of Disputes” to promote and provide restorative practices and mediation in cases where probationers are involved, particularly for juveniles.
The project was focused on awareness and capacity building for probation officers in the area of restorative justice, referring appropriate cases from probation service to mediation, and resolution of cases through restorative practices and mediation.
During the project implementation two 2-day trainings were organized for probation officers in restorative justice and mediation (January 2017), attended by 34 persons.
Mediation and resotative practices were used in 133 cases referred by institutions: probation, police and pre-trial detention. Mediation was sucessful in 89% of the cases referred.
