Restorative justice and mediation for minors – 3-day specialized training for mediators, held in Durres on 12-13-14 October 2022

The training aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of mediators to provide quality services in cases where minors are involved, in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Justice for Children.

The mediators were introduced to the concept, values, principles of restorative justice and its models. The provisions on the alternative measures for minors and the referral procedure from institutions to restorative justice and mediation programs were also presented.

An important part of the training was the practice of mediation skills through the cases presented and demonstrated by the participants and the aspects that should be taken into account when communicating with minors and young people.

The mediators were also made aware of the importance they should pay to the gender aspect in the mediation process.

The training was organized as part of the project "Empowering and Strengthening the Mediation System in Albania" which is implemented by CSSP - Center for Integrative Mediation in Berlin, in partnership with the National Chamber of Mediators and the Albanian Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation of Disputes, with funding from the "Austrian Development Agency"
