Restorative justice and mediation in pre-trial detention centers for minors and peer mediation in schools

The Albanian Foundation for "Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation of Disputes" is one of the partner organizations implementing the project on "Strengthening Juvenile Justice System in Albania", supported by Save the Children International.The main goal of the project is to improve the life conditions of Albania juvenile population through enhancement of the juvenile justice system, ensuring adequate child protection and promotion of children´s right with a child friendly approach.
AFCR has been focused in the field of criminality prevention and implementation of the conflict management, restorative justice and mediation component for juveniles in conflict with the law in the Institutions of Execution of Penal Decisions (IEPD) in Tirana, Lezha, Vlora, Korca and Institution of Minors in Kavaja.
The activities organized with minors under this program have served to foster the establishment of diversion mechanism and alternative resolutions through restorative justice and mediation for juveniles.
Also, as a part of juvenile delinquency prevention, conflict resolution and peer mediation programs are being implemented in primary and secondary schools in eight districts of Albania.
